Project Description

Bury the Bad Habit Before it Buries You

In honor of World No Tobacco Day on April 30th, we went out into Portland Downtown and put on a moving flash mob. Five men dressed in all black, started out by carrying a coffin. A group of volunteers surrounded them wearing t-shirts that said, “Live Free.” Everybody walked down 6th street towards Pioneer Square. The volunteers were able to reach out to people on the street and answer questions. People were given the opportunity to write a bad habit they would like to get rid of, and then they threw it into the coffin. This action was a symbol of burying the bad habit! Even though we were focused on tobacco, people had the choice to write down any bad habit or addiction, because we all have them. On that sunny afternoon in downtown Portland, we were able to reach out to thousands of people from the community.
